Introduction on CITT

CITT Picture

CITT is a project which will outline a strategy for a cross-border ICT network for information and communication technologies in the Centrope region and to support this strategy with best practice examples.

Europe strives to become the world’s most innovative and, respectively, most prosperous economic unit. Innovation is closely linked to technology transfer. Although technology transfer certainly allows a larger bandwidth, in its most widespread definition, it represents the commercialisation of academic research and involvement of business (especially SMEs) in R&D.

The project “Centrope ICT Technology Transfer” (CITT) triggers challenges in the ICT sector and aims at improving the technology transfer between the business and research communities in order to support its growth.

Thus, this project concentrates on the above definition on different levels. The focus is on strong cross-border development of ICT innovation and communication in the bordering regions of Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary – in the so called Centrope region.

  • Project partners from bordering regions of Austria , the Czech Republic , Hungary , and Slovakia search for solutions in order to support the strong cross-border co-operation, communication and further development of innovation in the area of information and communication technologies.
  • One of the foremost tasks is to assess the ICT related research and technology landscape of the Centrope region. Simultaneously, the aim is to identify relevant players in the ICT industry and those involved with R&D and connect these communities. Mentoring and coaching as well as knowledge based database with a sample of the best practices will round out the activities.
  • A strategy for a cross-border ICT Centrope network will be created which will provide support for a dynamic development of this region in the future. The experience in the Centrope region has shown that cross-border co-operation provides an ideal environment to further develop the region itself and will further strengthen its position in a global economy. Therefore, the creation of such an ICT network within the Centrope region is of high importance.
  • Participate in the CITT survey on ICT data in the Centrope region and become eligible for technology transfer support measures!
